The same practices are used in Arizona (and elsewhere) at National Forest Service Stage 3 Fire Restriction level. This happened at least once in the past 8 years for our area.

Given that much of Canada is currently on fire, and that many/most fires are caused by humans, it makes sense to keep people out of the forest when it is tinder dry.

A number of eastern states are suffering right now due to the smoke from Canada.

Public lands I can understand to a point, but telling me I can't walk through my own property and threatening me with a $25k fine if I do?
Sorry, they can GTFO

And yes, smoke is visible here and worse closer to Canada in Erie. Daughter there has to limit outdoor activity especially in the evenings

When they went to Forest Service fire restriction level three, the rules did apply to all outdoor activities at our house, but we were allowed to walk on our own property. But there would be a $10k fine if we walked through a forest entrance gate.
