we have ford fleet trucks at work the last gen’s were 6.2 the new 7.3 is quite a bit more powerful fuel mileage is about the same. We’ve had some in service for a little over a year with no problems so far some being fully loaded service trucks.

My dad has worked on just about every motor since the 70s, diesel specialist, but has seen it all, he’s still drive a 5.9 Cummins but said recently if he ever gets a new truck it would be that 7.3 hands down no questions asked, I believe it has to do with the simplicity compared to others and the way its build for the long run.

Depends on what you're using it for. Had a 2016 6.2 F250 for 4 years and it did fine towing the wife's 26' horse trailer. Weight on it was roughly 8000# but didn't do as well pulling the Jeep on a 26' Gooseneck. I mean it did decent but started throwing codes halfway home on a trip.
If you're hauling, 7.3 all the way. If it's just for general use, 6.2

Funny enough I just sold a used 7.3 here at the dealer. Really cleanly kept Lariat. He came back today for a free detail and tank of gas I offered him for purchasing. I asked him why he went 7.3 (he said he was very familiar with both before purchasing) and he said while others note the increased reliability of the 6.2, (no idea if that's actually true) and that sometimes the 7.3 seems to "suck air through a straw at times" (his words) he says it's a no brainer to go with the Godzilla given the similar MPG like JT@623 mentioned for the added power. He said he's been getting 15mpg on the freeway with its 31 gallon tank, and is coming from a Ram Diesel. Tows 5500 to 8000lbs and says the truck doesn't even feel it. Bought a gasser to avoid all the new emissions crap - don't blame him.
