buying a rubicon or sport package unlimited ?

Everyone is right! I have a sport. If I had to do it over again, it would be the sport with the power locks. Everything else comes off and gets replaced with new. The thing is, the sport is very capable. You just can't wheel as hard as someone with a Rubicon can. You have to take things a little easier. You will also become a much better driver without the lockers to assist you in more difficult situations. Ok here is some double talk. But if all I was going to do is upgrade the suspension and get some bigger tires, then the rubi is the way to go. The price difference is negligible when you do that.

Are you talking about electronic lockers or power door locks? I have done trails without lockers and finally upgraded with lockers. It doesn't make you a better diver without lockers it just make the line much easier with lockers. Just my 2 cents....

I purchased a sport a few months ago. If I knew better I would have purchased a Rubi. Right now I am finding myself rushing to save up to get lockers, etc. I also go exploring and most of the time we go out in only one vehicle. So having lockers right off the bat, definitely would ease my worries.

You do know that all jeeps come with the brake lock differentials these days? It is very effective at transferring the power from a spinning wheel to the opposite side (similar to limited slip except much more effective). Modern open differentials are nothing like open differentials of the past (CJ era). I think the locker is only necessary for serious rock crawling where you do not want any spin at all. If you go out by yourself a lot I think I would save up for the winch first.

Thx KJ, but because I didn't do any research before buying my Jeep, I put myself in a bad spot. I have 3.21 gears and running 33" tires. Eventually I will go with 35's soon so I would want to regear and at the same time I'm just gonna do the lockers too. I may not be doing this in the correct order but I don't want to put on the added weight with bumpers and winch without regearing first. I do a lot of hwy driving.

I think you have a good plan. I made sure to get the 3:73's with mine and I have no complaints running 35" tires. My jeep is also my daily driver too.

This will sound stupid to some being it doesn't make a huge difference, but I drive a sport that I would love to trade up to a Rubi because not only would having the upgrades be nice, but having the word "Rubicon" on the side of the hood makes the Jeep just a tad bit better looking. It also gives you a extra 10 horsepower to have those stickers on the side.

I went out and bought a rubicon , I haven't gotten to drive it yet as I'm still working 2600 miles from it , but my mom has got to take it down the dirt roads around their house in Arizona and start getting it used to not seeing asphalt as much... time to figure out which lift kit to buy now!

Good choice on the Rubicon. Enforcer lift? I think that is what I will end up with. Next question 3" or 4"?

I think I am going to go with a evo high clearance long arm kit , with either their bolt on coil over kits front and rear , maybe double throw downs idk yet
