Truth About Cars: Petition Demands FCA Spinoff Jeep

So a few weeks ago I started a petition for Jeep owners to push FCA to spin off Jeep. Fiat is currently trading on Jeep to keep their failing company afloat. There is good news in the short-term because FCA is WAY focused on Jeep right now. The bad news is they can only boil the fat off the bones for so long. Eventually they're going to collapse under the crushing debt they are carrying and will be forced to sell Jeep. After all, Jeep has a long history of keeping failing companies above water.

The petition now has about 1300 people who have signed it.

The Truth About Cars just wrote up a nice little article about it.

It's not real likely that they would really spin it off, but I wanted a way for owners to let FCA know that we're watching and won't be happy if they cannibalize the Jeep brand to save their crappy little tissue boxes.

Why all the threads about FCA??? Just enjoy the jeep. Leave the petition and other agendas out of this place. My $0.02.

Not trying to be a jackass, and I could be wrong, but not sure if this kind of stuff should be posted here.

EDIT: JAGS beat me to it. Although I have strong opinions in lots of areas, I don't come on the forum to get involved in politics/agendas/petitions.

THIS :grayno:

This is a good way to start pissing people off, especially given we don't really know you yet... its hard to read comments and especially assume sarcasm or light hearted jabs when you only have 12 posts on the forum. I dont think anyone is joking when they say "this should be kept off the forum" just to be clear :thumb:

Its just not going to happen, if anything FCA will be getting rid of dodge and Chrysler, they already broke off the big sellers of the dodge brand into RAM trucks.

FCA will not intentionally do anything to diminish the value of Jeep. If there is a compelling financial reason to spin off Jeep, I would expect they would do it. Currently, I don't think there is.

Be careful what you wish for. Things can always get worse.

I agree, i mean you'd think you have something to lose from FCA's troubles. I'm sure even if FCA goes someone will take over the jeep brand it's not like it's never happened before.

I appreciate the feedback on keeping politics out of the forum. I wouldn't come on here and push Trump, Hillary, Sanders or Cruz. But isn't the ownership of Jeep and the legacy of the brand something that should easily fit into a discussion of all things Jeep? I've been driving Jeeps for almost thirty years. I'd like to think the brand will be around for my kids to drive, and even my grandkids. The 1953 CJ-3B that my father-in-law and I are restoring shares a LOT in common with the 2012 Wrangler in my driveway. I just don't get the sense that Fiat actually cares about that in the long term.

But hey, if discussion of that, and efforts to unite Jeep owners to protect the brand aren't appreciated here, I'll just STFU and talk about other stuff. :)

To the best of my knowledge, petitions are against the rules, they are an agenda as far as I'm concerned. As far as your love for Jeeps, start a build thread and post pics of the project you're working on. I'm sure others would love to see that.
