SNORKEL STUPIDNESS - Do People Really Believe This??

On a somewhat regular basis, I get internet experts trying to explain to me why a snorkel, here in the USA is so important to have and lately, not even because of the stupid deep water that they will NEVER have to cross. No, these days, it's all about the "dust" and how a snorkel will magically rise above it and help keep your engine breathing clean air. You know, because dust only blows in one direction and it's always away from which ever side you have your snorkel installed on your vehicle.

This wasn't exactly someone trying to interwebsplain me but it is an example of what I'm talking about.

With that said, do people really believe this social media nonsense?? Or, am I the crazy one here?? 🤪

how long ago as that install? 4-5 years ago? lol
but it doesn't fit my 2026 one of 10 variations JT stellantis decided to make

Lol - for as long as I can remember, and especially before all the overlanding craze, I associate snorkels with Humvees and overseas expedition vehicles such as Land Rovers and Toyota Hiluxes and whatnot. Definitely don't understand why they're all the rage for any other reason than to have run out of ideas for cluttered crap you can throw on your "overlanding" vehicle.

LOL - not saying there isn't a place or need for one, just that here in America, they're really kind of gay... er, I mean, totally not needed 🤪

I’ve followed you through the desert and I can assure you there is no rising above the dust lol
I was just going to say that! 😂 This weekend Tony and I were in the back and, more often than not, the only thing we could see was nothing. 😆 The cloud of dust was going into the filter regardless if the intake was at 4’ or 8’.

Just another gimmick imo. Now, that option to raise the intake another foot higher to the A pillar wasn’t a bad idea.
