Trailering a JK - Gooseneck or bumper pull...

yea I'm definitely leaning towards gooseneck (not enclosed) - having a ball hitch in the bed wouldn't be a big deal and there are several out there that can be flipped upside down to leave you with a normal bed surface. It's funny that you mentioned having the bed left over for gear - that was...

Trailering a JK - Gooseneck or bumper pull...

Thank you for the responses. What is it about the gooseneck that makes it better? Is it the way it drives? Easier to maneuver? I do have the gooseneck/5th wheel prep kit already installed on my truck (came from the dealer) so it would be just as easy to get a gooseneck trailer, I just didn't...

Trailering a JK - Gooseneck or bumper pull...

I was just wondering if any of you out there that have trailered your JK have any strong opinions as to whether a bumper pull or a gooseneck is better. I'm in the process of moving far far away from the good offroading destinations but will be making annual or biannual treks to moab and other...

How much does your modified JKU weigh?

For those of you that have actually weighed your '12 or newer JKUs, I'm wondering what they've tipped the scales at. Mine is a '13 JKUR with a basic coil spring set up, chromoly control arms, some aftermarket steel armor (fenders/rockers) with 37s on 17" aluminum wheels. All other major...

    Shipping a Jeep

Has anyone used a commercial carrier to ship their Jeep before? In a couple of months I'm going to be moving across country and as much as I would love to do the road trip in my JK, time simply won't permit it. I was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations regarding good commercial...

Texas Hidden Falls Adventure Park Trek: October 2nd-3rd

My bad - I deleted some stuff "Fenceline" is technically North Pole on the map. It starts at the very top left of the map and runs down the entire upper edge of the map (there's more than enough room to run the trail in either direction though). The map leaves a lot to be desired, but it will...

experienced wheelers.. what have you found to be the weakest link in the jku?

Maybe melt was being a bit melodramatic...but there wasn't a sudden pop or anything like that. Granted, I wasn't exactly being smart about what I was doing at the time.

    Turn Signal Issue

Recently my right front turn signal has started going out. It works fine for about 10 seconds, then the "right front turn signal out" message pops up on the dash and sure enough, the light is not working. If I shut off the ignition and restart, it will work again for another 10 seconds and then...

    Mixing gear oil

I need to change out my rear diff fluid. Laying around my garage I have a quart of amsoil, a quart of royal purple and about half a quart of castrol synthetic. All are 75w-90. Is it ok to mix these?

    Show your Wrist Watch

Tawatec...because everyone has luminox. I love tritium watches and this one has been great for the past 5 years - I wear it daily, beat the heck out of it and it still works great.

    Driveshaft

If it's due to droop/exhaust contact, it will likely look like this. This happened suddenly while my front end was a full drop (3.5 inch lift). I replaced it with a 1310 Tatton drive shaft. In retrospect I shouldve gone with a 1350. I recently replaced my rear one with a brand new factory one...

Jeep Pulling towards the driver side when braking

So I just had my ball joints replaced, and on the way home from the shop, I noticed that when braking at highway speeds, my jeep is pulling pretty hard to the driver's side. It drives straight as an arrow otherwise. It doesn't seem to pull at all when braking below 40mph. The front rotors seem...

    Melted wires

So I'll start by saying that I'm completely new to working on my own jeep and am trying to learn. I recently tried installing some rock lights using the wayalife writeup. I used the platinum burner LED race lights (pic below). I used the switch that came with them since I don't have a daystar...

Texas & People living on the Mexican border.....strange question for you....

My wife and I were in big bend over thanksgiving week too. We stayed in la jitas (Pricey, but safe and highly recommended). We did the state park & the national park. Definitely had firearms on board and within easy reach. Here's some (admittedly crappy) videos I made - please don't expect WOL...

Who wants to play "Name That Noise?"

This morning I started my Jeep (13 JKU 18k miles) and pulled it out of the garage to install a set of rock lights. It started fine and sounded normal. Once the rock lights were installed (by the way Eddie, thanks for the great writeup on that), I started it up to put it back in the garage. In...
