The Chronicles of JeepFan and GemHunter

After installing the Rancho lift and new front 1350 JE REEL driveshaft on our 2023 JLUR, I noticed an audible humming noise while driving 65-80 mph. It wasn't super loud, and you could not feel a vibration. Just an annoying hum. It was driving me crazy! LOL! (Most people probably wouldn't have...

    rear pinion nut too loose??

I removed the rear shaft and drove it up to 75 MPH. No more noise. It seems unusual a factory shaft would have this problem, but it must not like the additional angle from installing the lift. Strange thing is I cannot feel a vibration what soever, just the sound. It was driving me nuts! LOL! I...

    rear pinion nut too loose??

LOL! I don't know if you remember me telling you the JL has this strange humming sound transmitting through our JL above 65 MPH after I installed the lift. Turns out it's coming from the rear factory drive shaft. I knew eventually I would have to replace it but didn't want to mess around with...

    Camshaft Position Sensor Oil Failure

Ah! The crank sensor is on the right side (passengers side) of the engine just above the upper oil pan and closer to the transmission. Super easy to replace. Remove the connector, remove the 10mm bolt, pull out the sensor. Reverse these steps and you're done. There is a learn process for the...

    Camshaft Position Sensor Oil Failure

Loosen the Torx-30 screw at the top of the sensor. Then gently wiggle the sensor while pulling it straight out. Using a pic or small screwdriver, pull upward on the seal to remove it from the valve cover. It may be stuck in there pretty good; just take your time and work it out. Clean the area...

    Camshaft Position Sensor Oil Failure

I had the same problem with oil leaking from the drivers side rear cam sensor seal. Oil dripped on the downstream O2 sensor wires and caused an O2 sensor code. Replacing the O2 sensor and cam sensor seal fixed it. Fortunately, I did not have to replace the rear cam sensor as others have...
