Your correct on the long shifter. Both of the extra shifters go to the transfer case. The medium shifter engages the front axel (4wheel drive), and the short one shifts the transfer case to Hi, Neutral or Low range. In the picture, if you look real close, you will see another shifter with a...

Here's a pic of the data plate on the dash, I don't have one of the plate behind the seat for you.

The M38A1 does have a dash plate on the passenger side behind the panic bar. That plate contains military spec's, max gear speeds, shift patterns, lube info, military serial numbers, vehicle demensions for shipping, etc.

It's inside the tub on the front slope of the rear wheel well right behind the passenger seat.

Nice looking find. The ID tag, if its still on it , is located on the fender well behind the passengers seat. It's later than 1953. The most obvious tell is 52-53 models had the hinged front grill and thumb screws on the battery box covers. As long as the engine is good there's not much that...

Arrow near Afton Canyon CA After catching the bug from Eddie & Cindy the "Quest Masters", I started looking for a couple arrows in my area. Found this one, you can't drive to it anymore (legally) so a short hike got me there.

Here are a couple more for you... I haven't been to these yet, the first is on the north bound side of I-15 near Afton Rd., The second is on the South Bound side of I-15 between Halloran Summit and Halloran Springs.

Thank you Mr. Ty. I have more old pictures but I have to get them converted from the old slide format to digital.

Regarding Restoration and "Arrested Decay"..........That's a great concept that I think needs to be spread around for these old worriers. You got to keep some battle scars or the youngsters won't believe the stories that go along with them. :D Great job!

My Dad has some stories too. Great adventures. Got some recorded.....for family historic value. :)
