Personally I would avoid anything that mounts to the pinch seem or to the body itself. My driver side slider (evo) go slammed into a rock awile back and even with my jeep leaning on it and driving forward all that happened was a little bit of paint got scraped off and thats it.

That may be why the skins exist. I actually spoke with Mel and what he said made sense. He likes to bend the pinch seem up so that he can mount the sliders as high as possible. This may also translate to the sliders being as close to the body as possible without actually hitting. :idontknow:
