Increased weight of axles has no bearing on the steering box. The whole purpose of the hydro assist is exactly that - it takes a load off of the box. Lose hydro assist and you're just inconvenienced.

Once you taste how good your home grown stuff tastes you won't want to buy from the store. Like Ovie said - making your own salsa/Pico is the single thing I enjoy the most out of the garden. Roma tomatoes are really good for that - not as watery. Just do a small one - see what's worth it for you
