Has anyone experienced the warning and service stop/start message?

Have you read your codes?

If not, do so.

It seems the ESS fails if just about anything else electronic/CANBUS has issues.

My guess would be aux battery.

ESS went out when I lost a wheel speed sensor, along with several other systems.

Before you start throwing money at it, run it for codes.

test the aux battery separate from the main - you basically have to remove it to get a proper voltage test

I can see it's all the rage. I'll check the codes tonight and test both batteries this evening.

Ok so no codes at all. Main battery was low which meant the Aux was bringing it down throwing the dash warning. Used a regular aux battery and paired it with an 880cca Optima for the main. Warning message is gone and everything back to normal. Batteries were the culprit.
