On a somewhat regular basis, I get internet experts trying to explain to me why a snorkel, here in the USA is so important to have and lately, not even because of the stupid deep water that they will NEVER have to cross. No, these days, it's all about the "dust" and how a snorkel will magically rise above it and help keep your engine breathing clean air. You know, because dust only blows in one direction and it's always away from which ever side you have your snorkel installed on your vehicle.
This wasn't exactly someone trying to interwebsplain me but it is an example of what I'm talking about.
With that said, do people really believe this social media nonsense?? Or, am I the crazy one here??

This weekend Tony and I were in the back and, more often than not, the only thing we could see was nothing. 
The cloud of dust was going into the filter regardless if the intake was at 4’ or 8’. 
It uses the moving air to spin itself and throw the dirt away from the intake.
