Ok so no codes at all. Main battery was low which meant the Aux was bringing it down throwing the dash warning. Used a regular aux...

test the aux battery separate from the main - you basically have to remove it to get a proper voltage test

Have you read your codes? If not, do so. It seems the ESS fails if just about anything else electronic/CANBUS has issues.
